________

Conference scholarships of up to $1000 will be available to approved applicants. Scholarships are designed to assist with access and participation in the 2020 LGBTIQ Women’s Health Conference and to ensure the greatest possible diversity of conference attendees.

These scholarships are open to organisations and individuals from all states and territories of Australia, including the Tiwi Islands, NT.

Scholarships are designed to help cover costs associated with:

  • Conference registration fees
  • Travel expenses
  • Accommodation
  • Child care
  • Daily expenses – an agreed upon daily expense that can cover the costs of being away from home, for example. meals, laundry and travel.

Who can apply?

Scholarship applications are open to anyone who wishes to attend the conference and lives in Australia, including presenters, panellists and facilitators.

Please note that people presenting at the conference are not charged any registration fees.

How to apply

You will need to complete our application form. Please contact ACON if you’re unable to do so.

The application form contains 4 selection criteria that you are required to respond to. We have provided these at the end of this form so you are able to review them before you start filling out the form.

How will applicants be selected?

All applications will be assessed by the LGBTIQ Women’s Health Conference Working Group based on the responses to the selection criteria.

In acknowledgement of the systemic barriers some people face in terms of access, and in line with the LGBTIQ Women’s Health Conference’s engagement statement priority will be given to:

  • Community members (LGBTIQ people; sexuality and/or gender diverse people)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Trans and gender diverse people
  • Intersex people / people with an intersex variation
  • People of colour and/or culturally and linguistically diverse people
  • People with a disability

The scholarships are also designed to increase attendance for people experiencing financial hardship and people living in regional and remote areas.

Scholarships are only available to people living in Australia.

Scholarship amounts will take location and distance to travel into consideration. For example, an applicant living in the Northern Territory will be granted more than an applicant living in Sydney or regional NSW.

All travel and accommodation bookings will be managed by ACON staff.

Please note that we have a limited number of full scholarships available. Our ability to support full scholarships may outweigh the number of applications we receive. Partial scholarships are also available to assist conference attendees with travel or accommodation costs.

If your estimated costs are less than $1000, please specify the amount you need. The organisers reserve the right to offer scholarship funds less than what is asked for.
